A New Look

Jacob and I went to Colorado to meet Uncle Addie who was coming home from his Mission to Germany. Jacob picked up a new look while we were there. I wish I could say it was a...
Professional Baby Swimmer

or a Snow Suit Wearer

Or a World Class Builder

or a Corn Dog Eater

Or a First Class Potty Goer

Or a Rock Band Member

But unfortunately his new look is a Pink-Eyed, Road Rashed, Cold Sufferer.

Thanks to a horrible mother who looked away for one second and a plastic stool that caught his fall. We both cried and cried. Hopefully he will heal quickly.

This is my sister in law Brittany. She is amazing. She drives all the way to Vancouver from Portland every Friday to watch Jacob. She wont let us pay her. Yesterday, there was a HUGE pile of laundry that was on Eli's to do list all last week since I am not able to lug 100 lbs of linen up and downstairs right now. The house was a mess. The Fridge was so stuffed you couldn't fit anything else in and the smell was HORRENDOUS. So what does Brittany do? She goes and talks to our manager, gets the laundry key, does the 100 lbs of laundry, cleans the house, cleans out the fridge all while taking care of Jacob. All I can say is WOW. Brittany-- Thank you, thank you. You did not have to do that. You are such a blessing in our lives.

So why can't I handle the laundry or the smell of the fridge or to pick up the house? Pregnancy of course. I'm 12 weeks. I vomit every night despite Zofran and am rendered useless after about 5 pm due to the nausea. It's going to do away soon I hope.

Respiratory Distress

So Jacob was officially given the diagnosis of asthma about 4 weeks ago and started on inhaled steroids to try and prevent his symptoms. Whenever he gets a cold that seems to trigger his symptoms. On Friday night, I came home from work and he was working SO hard to breathe. He couldn't even talk because it was too much work. He had retractions (when the chest wall sinks in between the ribs) and dusky lips. Eli took him into urgent care (I was busy vomiting, but that's another story). The doctor was so glad we brought him in. He has been on oral steroids for 5 days and is doing much better. Except for side effects... hyperactivity.. it is really funny to watch.

Now things are getting back to normal and I have my favorite Sous Chef back.

oh yeah and PS Happy 5 Years Eli (thanks for the reminder Hannah).
