I teach a CTR 6 & 7 year old primary class on Sundays. I have a boy in my class named Michael who has Autism. While sitting though Sharing Time Michael turned to me and punched my stomach "Pow, pow, pow, pow, pow" repeatedly just like a punching bag. "Stop" I said "my baby is in there". "Really?" He responded as he proceeded to lay his head in my lap and put his ear against my belly. "He's saying don't hit my mom," Michael reported. He then placed his hand on each of my breasts counting "1-2" and then my belly"3". "You have 3 babies in there". All this was done with a huge grin on his face and without guile.
I laugh at his story, but then worry about my own son. This developmental disorder is quite prevalent at 1 in 150 individuals and boys 4 times more than girls. I am sure parents just deal with it and do their best. Michael is very sweet and a blessing to have in our class. I am sure I will have more stories to share.

That is so funny! I totally worry about autism too. It's crazy how prevalent it is these days. Why do you think there is so much more of it than there used to be?
Okay that was kinda funny!
Similar story...
I was in Primary and one of our teachers needed some assistance with one of the Sunbeams so of corse I helped, big mistake!
He'd been sitting on my lab for like two minutes when he turned around and said, "nice boobs! They look really nice today!" Okay he's a SUNBEAM!!
Then as if it couldn't get worse minutes later he said, "You've got a booger on your skirt!" Yep the little devil wiped his ginormous yucky booger on my skirt! EWW!
Bad parenting scares me more then having a child who's Autistic after that!
Janel,
Im not sure of you remember me but I just want to say hi and that you are darling pregnant!! I love reading your silly stories. Im with you on the old t.v. shows. I love unsolved mysteries...Ive seen every episode but they still freak me out.
I live in Virginia because my hubby is in the Navy. He is deployed right now so I am actually going to Utah for a few months. I CANT WAIT!!
How nice...love those little Sunbeams ;) that's what Olivia is and I worry that she is embarrassing me every Sunday! I taught Sunbeams for a year when I was single so I remember fondly the neat stories I would hear!
I am also afraid of Autism! It's so scary to think about, those poor parents, and children, to have to deal with all that. I am so thankful that I have two healthy kids, and worry that I can't remain this lucky with all of them!
Janel-
Yes I did live in an apartment right by the temple, but I only lived there for about 4 months. I think you are imagining you coming to see me because I know for sure I wouldn't have forgotten that. But then.. how did you know I lived by the temple? It's a mystery.
I think the last time I saw you was when we both moved after our 10th grade year, has it really been that long?
That is so FUNNY! spencer and I teach the CTR 7 class as well, and we've learned some pretty funny things about some families in our ward...hee hee..I love it.
