The battles I face

First- THE FRUIT FLY. I love produce and keep an ample stash on my kitchen counter. Lately these pesky creatures have been getting to the food before we do. I tossed the nasty fruit and put any new purchases in the fridge, but the problem lingered. I tried this method and ended up with this. The problem has gotten better, but it was so gross to have that sitting on the counter.

Next- my weight. I have lost the baby weight, but I was 166 lbs before I was pregnant which for my frame about 24-ish lbs too heavy. So yesterday I joined weight watchers (that was my birthday present to myself). I felt kind of weird at the meeting because it is a bunch of fat people sitting around talking about food for an hour. I am doing "the core" plan which is not a point system. You just eat whole grains, fruits, veggies, and nonfat milk products. We shall see how it goes.

Lastly, Yup. I have a sword wielding pirate for a son. Eli has been reading a Spanish book to Jacob called Piratas despues del mediodia (Pirates after noontime) and this is what we have now.

Also for those of you Office folk - Predictions for Pam and Jim? I think they wont get together, not yet at least. Their little romance (and Michael) has definitley kept me watching.

Go Janel! I am sooo lazy, I have started Weight Watchers like 3 times but I have no will power. I am doing better, though, controlling my portions etc. and I've lost 5 lbs! That is awesome you've lost all your baby weight already :) I'm sure you'll do great!

I love Pirate Jacob. Is that going to be his Halloween costume, too?

Oh how I hate fruit flies! We had a nasty bout with them a couple weeks ago and I tried everything to get rid of them. We put all fruit and veggies off the counter and into the fridge. I thought they were hangin out in my garbage so I tied the bag constantly (that was annoying). What finally worked was I read on line that they breed a lot in your drains. They said simple bleach wouldn't kill them but I dumped a ton of bleach down both drains at the same time and then flushed with water. Then I kept the drains closed pretty much ALL the time for about a week, especially at night. And then BAM, that got rid of those pesty flies! I know there are poisons you can get but I didn't like the thought of spraying that around my house and having me and my little family breathing it in.

As for everything else... Jacob is thee cutest, littlest pirate I have ever seen!
And good for you for having such will power! Let us know how it goes!!

You are amazing! I still have left over weight to lose from both pregnancies, and my baby is nearly 7 months. So, I'm a little behind. And your little pirate is the cutest little thing ever! I love it.

I can't believe you've lost all of your baby weight already! It took me a good 4 or 5 months.

PS As much as I want to see Jim & Pam together, you're right...they can't hook up yet. The show would lose all of that sexual tension that I love so much!

PPS Happy birthday! Did you do anything fun to celebrate?

Janel,
Did you ever take the certification exam to become a licensed Family Nurse Practitioner?
I took Andi for her 2 year exam today & we saw a NP & I loved her. What is the difference between the two? Can I just go to her for most things?
